Saw the ad in “On The Edge” hoping for a few recipes. I remember my dad bringing home the cheesecake and peanut coffee cakes. The cheesecake was my favorite. We had to wait until Sunday morning to eat them.

My name is David Mainer. I was raised in Edwardsville and shined shoes in my Grandfather's barber shop as a kid just a few doors down from the bakery. I was reminiscing about the cream horns from the bakery and how they were the best I've ever had, but my favorite was the Paradise Roll and I had to search for the recipe in hopes of finding one and found your guestbook. I moved away from E'vill when I was 21 but always came back to get a paradise roll following you from Downtown to Montclaire to Glen Crossing! I was sad to see Sally Ann Close. It was truly the best bakery ever. If you find the time you might add the Paradise roll to your list as it was my favorite!
